reset Design Lab assists organizations in addressing their transformation challenges, in order to build, formalize and embody a vision, with the resulting commitments, in their daily activities. Beyond questioning our reasons for being and acting for a desirable and sustainable world, it is a question of moving from the "why" to the "how"
Launched in 2022, as an extension of the Exalt Design Lab program, reset Design Lab proposes to use action research to deploy strategies for aligning and bringing coherence to organizations (company with a mission, CSR approach, redirection...).
As the negative effects of the Anthropocene multiply, the explorations offered by local or voluntarily marginal initiatives are clearly not enough to trigger a global transformation. Rather than developing their mastery of external conditions, today's organizations must seek to create coherence and consistency. Less predicting, more sensing - changing the level of consciousness to address complex issues, as Albert Einstein invited, followed by the deep ecology movement in the 1970s.
Redirection practices (theorized by design thinker Tony Fry) offer an interdisciplinary conceptual and operational framework within which design can act, provided it decenters its thinking and practice. reset Design Lab thus connects sources of knowledge and inspiration [human and social sciences + collective intelligence + design] to imagine and make sensitive experiences that make sense and engage. Used as an interdisciplinary integrator, design gives substance to initiatives and stimulates visceral understanding, thanks to which individual and collective behaviors can change in depth.
This is why this common laboratory functions as a learning community that shares convictions, experiences and questions, in order to build a deeply transformative knowledge that creates shared wealth. Let's make the ecological challenge we are facing the opportunity of a fruitful break to :
Team:
Since 2017, Strate Research has developed a unique "common laboratory" model that engages academic partners, organizations and institutions in a co-construction and project research approach around company theses (CIFRE theses). The duration of a laboratory is 4 years, the time needed to host theses for 3 years and to build a learning community around the issues and themes shared by the partners.
Following the example of Exalt Design Lab, the joint Reset Design Lab brings together business and academic partners in different formats:
Building, transforming and inhabiting this world must be done in full awareness of its limits, and of our own. The time for problem solving and anthropocentrism is over. Paradoxical tensions, interdependencies and externalities are objects of design in their own right, which calls for new postures:
The laboratory's work program is based on these three research axes, with the support of CIFRE theses and action research projects. More information on the partners and activities from September 2022.
