Design for the public interest
Une formation intégrée au sein des collectivités territoriales
The classes are supervised by local authorities or partner public institutions. Throughout the semester, 12 "actor" students from all backgrounds, designers or non-designers, will develop projects rooted in the territory.
Thanks to this multidisciplinary team of "actor" students, guided by the designer's method, the SAS is a territory activator, working pro-bono to transform the city with its inhabitants and local actors.

Comprendre le secteur public
The actor in social and environmental innovation at the service of the general interest knows the basics of the functioning of local authorities. The collaborative work between all the stakeholders who organise and bring the city to life, as well as the intervention of experts in the field of anthropology, politics, the circular economy, systemics and public speaking, offers students a global vision of the issues and a common language with the public sector.
Concevoir un projet d'innovation
The design method is the backbone of the course. Its teaching allows students to understand and become aware of the different phases of the innovation process. The public partner, who offers concrete subjects for reflection arising from the problems of the territory, enables SAS students to apply the method in parallel with its theoretical teaching.
Objectifs pédagogiques
- Acquisition of the design approach
- Identify a societal irritant and make a diagnosis
- Define the problem and the resulting fields of action with the stakeholders
- Build and formalize a systemic solution to the ideal, in response to the issue
- Structure a project file and argue it
Le programme
Theoretical and practical workshops on the design method, masterclasses, workshops on circular economy, systemic representation, urban utopia, scripting and public speaking.
Follow-up of the project groups in partnership with the local authority and defense in front of a jury composed of experts in social innovation, the associative world and research.
FAQ
- Interactions within the group of learners and with stakeholders and the partner community in the development of the project.
- Based on the issue addressed and the chosen playing field, the project team carries out research and surveys in the field and develops tools for capturing the situation.
- The project team creates a creative reference system based on a competitive and inspirational benchmark.
- The team defines the specifications (definition of the device, modalities and objectives of the test).
- It organizes the manufacturing of the device, then the test in an iterative way.
22 students trained with 100% success in the different sessions since its creation in 2021.
Individual evaluation during a final defense:
- Communication and argumentation in response to the jury's questions.
- Synthetic presentation of the approach (presentation of the subject, the problem and the solution).
- Coherence of the approach.
- Description of the solution (allies, articulation, common thread).
- Feedback of the global approach from the surprise course to the test.
20 places are available and recruitment is based on an admission interview.
Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of higher education.
2 re-entry sessions:

- 5000 euros for employees,
